Well I hate it when something screws up. Today, I go to cut the grass after the past week of rain, drizzle and otherwise inhospitable to outside home improvement weather. But it the lawnmower refused to cooperate. WHY? and WHY NOW?
I mean only one maybe two more cuts to do? What makes it worse is I got part of the lawn, what makes that even worse the that part is in the front of the house. Murphy's Law comes to mind.
Bunch of shit I guess.
So in this small time frame I added...sixty seven more finishing up all of Susan's ~ well at least those of hers that are organized.
Mostly a bunch of country and pop.. I was cringing at the idea of doing this. So how did this random smattering turn out?
The Nixons - ... At The Sun - The Nixons- 1997, was the year, pretty much the year I moved back to the Milton area from Parkersburg. This was a band that the new radio station FM 94.5 is it? ( I don't know, I mostly listen to Sirius or my iPhone anymore ) but this was popular then, not this song but another from that album, and this year and the late '90s were full of bands with a similar sound, Wallflowers, Goo Goo Dolls, the list goes on. Currently residing in the "Where Are They Now" file.
STP - Coma - Shangri-La Dee Da - after this disc, you kind of knew the end was approaching for this band. Yes, this disc had a track or two that wasn't half bad, but it was more Cheap Trick, than Plush. This song wasn't great then and still isn't.
Biohazard - Inner Fear On - Biohazard- hmmm piano's at the beginning leading into a pretty good guitar riff... Pretty good tune from a decent disc... more punkish than metal, but not great punk so I call it more metal.
Monster Magnet - Silver Future - Heavy Metal 2000- yes from the Soundtrack, to this bad remake of a classic movie. Fortunately this song is grooving and good. Monster Magnet is pretty damn good when they're being themselves, and not something they're not. What does that mean? I don't know, but this type of stoner metal vibe they do great. Up tempo, then slow grooving in a Nick Cave sort of way. One of the Best songs on this soundtrack.
Billy Idol - Buried Alive - Heavy Metal 2000- ok we get the noticeable growl, and Mr. Idol starts out in that distinctive voice. Make you realize where have I heard this guy? Pretty good track. But as this was back in 2K, and you haven't heard anything from him, well you can guess it wasn't that great to resurrect his career.
Madonna - Papa Don't Preach - The Immaculate Collection- this a bad remix of this song. Hey in the '80s who didn't wish they could be hanging out with this chick? But this is just a bad remix.. why?
Heaven And Hell - Follow The Tears - The Devil You Know- Ronnie James Dio, sings his ass off on this disc, and this song is great. Makes you think that the rest of the Black Sabbath guys should just tell Ozzy to "Piss Off". This is a great disc very much in the Black Sabbath vibe. Grade A.
Motorhead - No Class - The Best Of Motorhead- this has a "School's Out" vibe going through it. That's probably why I can't get into it. It's pretty typical Motorhead. Sounds good loud, and in a smokey bar. But not through these shitty laptop speakers. (well nothing's really sounding good through them to be honest )
RATT - So Good, So Fine - Ratt- this disc just pretty much sucked. A 1999 regrouping effort after Pearcy's failed Arcade venture. It's got the hooks, and you can see where the band is trying to capture it's past sound. Just didn't do it for me then, but listening to it again now, well I wouldn't write home about it.
She Daisy - Punishment - SheDaisy- the only thing that's "punishment" about this song is that it is punishing to listen to. Typical Dixie Chick wanna bees.... and bad imitation of that.
Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive - Pure Disco- if it wasn't for the ridiculousness of this song, I would say it sucks. But well its fun, guess that's why Susan and the girls have a Disco disc.
Fight - War Of Words - War Of Words- finally back to the good stuff, Rob Halford after telling everyone he's gay, has to put out a metal album, and by god he does. Great Album. Rob's voice is awesome. Still is.
Dixie Chicks - Give It Up Or Let Me Go - Wide Open Spaces...Ok I like the Dixie Chicks, feel free to pelt me with tomatoes. But I think Natalie Maines has a great voice and can belt tunes out the way I like em belted out. This song's a little too blue grassy for me, but it isn't bad. I just normally skip it.
Ok that's it for this bunch.
